As the forecast is calling for rain this weekend, the City of Lethbridge is reminding residents to please be proactive in protecting your property during rainfall. Some actions that you can take:

•Ensure all drain pipes on your home are in working order, are not plugged and that they are extended away from your home by two metres where possible.
•If you have a sump pump or a back flow prevention device ensure that they are in working order.
•Check the catch basin grate on your street and clear any debris. Removed debris can be placed on the boulevard or be bagged and placed in your garbage cart.
•If a catch basin is blocked and not easy to clear, you should contact the Public Operations office at 403 320 3850.

Looks like these fun magnets aren’t so fun in the tummy. Health Canada has issued a recall for BuckyBalls because they pose a swallowing/inhaling threat to kids. Some children have needed emergency surgery to remove swallowed magnets that can attract one another while moving through the intestines. The magnets can trap intestinal tissue between them and cause life-threatening blockages or tearing.

Distributors of BuckyBalls are voluntarily recalling the products. Details here

Lethbridge’s Festival of Quilts

The Lethbridge Centennial Quilters Guild is holding Lethbridge’s Festival of Quilts on Friday, June 14th from 10am-7pm and Saturday, June 15th from 10am-5pm. The event will be held at the Lethbridge College Gymnasium. Daily admission is $8.00. Quilts will be displayed, merchant mall, quilt raffle, refreshments and free parking.
