107.7 The River - Today's Hits & Yesterday's Favourites - Lethbridge, Alberta

Brent Brooks our morning show King was born and raised in south eastern New Brunswick, but he has called Alberta home since 1984.

A product of the Lethbridge Community College Communication Arts Program, Brooksie actually started his broadcasting career here at The River in 1985. After stops at radio stations in Red Deer and Calgary, Brent is happy to be back where it all began.

While on the air weekday mornings with his 'work wife', Cathy Martin, you'll often hear Brooksie talk about his real wife 'Lil'. Together they have 4 kids ranging from 8 to 12, so there's no shortage of fun family things to talk about on the show. And no he doesn't cheat at Beat Brooksie! He really has all that useless information in his Medulla Oblongata.

Cathy Martin our morning show co-host and news anchor was born and raised in Lethbridge and except for the wind she loves living in this city. She also loves spending time with my family, eating, shopping, traveling and cheering on the Detroit Red Wings. Go Wings Go!
Some of her favourite things include Reece's peanut butter cup blizzards, red liquorice, strong coffee, Johnny Depp, Sting and of course working with Brent. Some of her least favourite things...coconut, hard candies, tongue piercing and people telling her she can't do something. She's such a rebel.

I was born and raised in Hamilton Ontario and come from an Italian background which explains my love for wine, pasta and romance.  My passion for music and talking only meant one thing – a career in Radio!
It’s been 22 years behind the microphone, working in both Country and Adult Contemporary formats.   I’ve worked in many markets in Ontario including Hamilton, Toronto and Kitchener.  My work has allowed me the opportunity to meet and interview many artists from Shania Twain and Keith Urban to Faith Hill and Tim McGraw.  I am thrilled to be with you weekdays from 9 to 2 and it’s great to be part of The River family.

When I’m not on the air, I’m busy watching my twin boys, Evan & Eric grow into such fine young men (high school this year, yikes!).  It’s easy to tell they’re my boys as they not only look like me, but they too have a passion for music by playing in a band.  The last few years I was a “hockey mom” now I feel like a “groupie”!!

Dermot is my best friend and soulmate who also has 2 son’s, so you can just imagine how outnumbered I am when it comes to the remote control.

I enjoy Michael Buble, Jason Mraz, Leona Lewis and Natasha Bettingfield to name a few and I’m enjoying playing them and many more for you each day.

Christina moved to Alberta in 1995 from BC.  Sure it’s beautiful British Columbia…. But they don’t have the BIG BLUE SKY.  That’s her favorite thing about living on the prairies.  Besides, the Rockies are only a short drive away!!!  (To get her mountain fix).  Christina is also the mother to a very happy and busy son.  She’s also the wife to a husband who tolerates her cooking.  (If you have any fool proof recipes, she’d appreciate you passing them along to save her marriage).  Her passion is radio, and has come up with this motto:  “Radio is to make people laugh, smile and forget about their own problems.  I’m here to play the music and make you feel better.”  When she’s not at work, she’s at home chasing her son and trying to find the time to walk the dog (Priddis the Wheaton Terrier), make supper, and scrapbook her life…  Sure there’s enough time in the day… isn’t there?

Christina is off on maternity leave until September 2010. We wish her all the best!
